The Opportunity: Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Rugby area, supporting pupils within its dedicated on-site SEN Hub. This rewarding role involves working with pupils across KS1 and KS2 who require additional support with SEMH, behavioural needs, Autism (ASD), ADHD, and communication difficulties. The SEN Hub provides a nurturing environment where pupils receive targeted interventions before being supported to successfully reintegrate into their mainstream classrooms. Working alongside the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral team, you will play a key role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and access the curriculum with confidence. The school has a highly supportive leadership team and a collaborative staff culture, making it an excellent environment for professional development.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support within the school's SEN Hub
  • Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with SEMH, behavioural, and additional learning needs
  • Help pupils successfully reintegrate into mainstream classroom settings
  • Deliver targeted interventions to improve engagement, confidence, and academic progress
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to support EHCP outcomes
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence throughout the school day
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment that enables pupils to thrive

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEN
  • Experience working within a primary school, SEN Hub, resource base, or specialist provision
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding of Autism (ASD), ADHD, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed practice is desirable
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
