About the Role
Long Term Futures is recruiting a Specialist Teaching Learning Assistant (STLA) for an independent specialist school located close to Newark. The school supports children and young people aged 5 to 19 with autism and associated needs. With small class sizes and high staffing levels, the school provides a structured day that supports both learning and personal development. The curriculum is highly personalised and includes a strong focus on communication, emotional wellbeing, practical life skills and therapeutic support.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups throughout the school day
- Helping students develop confidence, independence and positive routines
- Encouraging engagement in learning activities and supporting progress
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Recording progress, wellbeing and key observations in line with school systems
- Supporting with personal care where required
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, Autism, SEMH, or within specialist education settings.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred, although strong Level 2 candidates will be considered.
- Calm, patient, and resilient, with strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Able to build positive relationships and work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable due to the school's location on the outskirts of Newark.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
