Long Term Futures are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Barnet from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Music Teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with the patience, creativity and adaptability required to teach within a specialist SEN environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging Music lessons through to GCSE level, helping students develop their confidence, creativity and academic understanding of the subject. Previous experience teaching Music at GCSE level is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons, including GCSE Music
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE coursework, practical assessments and examinations
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of SEN and additional learning needs
- Create an inclusive environment where students can develop their musical abilities and confidence
- Monitor, assess and track student progress
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider SEN team
- Contribute to performances, enrichment activities and the wider life of the school
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Previous experience teaching Music at GCSE level β essential
- Strong knowledge of the secondary Music curriculum
- Ability to differentiate lessons for students with Special Educational Needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A patient, creative and adaptable teaching approach
- Previous experience within an SEN school or specialist provision is highly desirable
