Pay: £110–£125 per day

Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Kingston / Surbiton area of South West London.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children who need additional support to access learning, manage emotions and build confidence within school. You'll be joining an established team where SEN support is focused on helping pupils make meaningful progress while developing greater independence.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support across the primary age range
- Support pupils with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language difficulties
- Adapt activities and resources to make classroom learning accessible
- Work towards individual targets outlined within EHCPs and support plans
- Deliver structured interventions covering communication, literacy, numeracy and social development
- Help pupils develop strategies for emotional and sensory regulation
- Support transitions and changes to routine throughout the school day
- Use positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies where appropriate
- Encourage independence rather than creating reliance on adult support
- Record progress and communicate effectively with teachers and the wider SEN team
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN/SEND is essential
- Experience as an SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or similar
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and/or communication needs
- Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support
- Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs would be advantageous
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, visual supports or SALT strategies is desirable
- Calm and consistent when supporting children who may become dysregulated
- Patient, proactive and able to adapt your approach to individual pupils
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Reliable and committed to a full-time, long-term placement
- Able to commute reliably to the Kingston / Surbiton area
