Long Term Futures is seeking a proactive and skilled Interventions Teaching Assistant to support a Reception pupil with non-verbal ASD, alongside delivering targeted interventions across EYFS and KS1 in a welcoming Camden primary school. This is a split-role position, ideal for someone who enjoys combining specialist 1:1 SEN support with broader intervention work to raise attainment and support early development.
Responsibilities
- Providing focused 1:1 support for a non-verbal Reception pupil following a structured 90-minute timetable
- Supporting communication using visual aids, PECS, Makaton or similar strategies
- Assisting with sensory needs, routines and emotional regulation
- Delivering small-group interventions across EYFS and KS1, including phonics, early language and numeracy
- Supporting pupils with additional needs to access learning
- Encouraging engagement, communication and independence
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to staff to refine support strategies
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience supporting non-verbal ASD or complex communication needs
- Confident delivering interventions in EYFS and KS1
- Knowledge of SALT strategies, PECS, Makaton or visual communication tools
- Calm, patient and structured approach
- Proactive and able to manage both 1:1 and group responsibilities
- Committed to a long-term role
