The Opportunity
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in the Harrow area. The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication needs, and associated developmental challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN and complex needs
- Support pupils with communication, sensory, and emotional regulation needs
- Implement personalised support strategies linked to EHCP targets
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning resources
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
- Understanding of Autism, communication difficulties, and complex needs
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
