The Opportunity
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 provision supporting young adults aged 16–25 with a range of additional needs. The setting focuses on delivering personalised learning programmes, helping learners develop independence, life skills, communication, and employability skills in preparation for adulthood. You will support students with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASD), learning difficulties, communication needs, and physical disabilities. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people to achieve their individual goals and reach their full potential.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for learners with SEN
- Support personalised learning programmes tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
- Assist learners in developing independence, life skills, and social communication skills
- Support students with emotional regulation and engagement in learning activities
- Provide personal care support where required, ensuring dignity and wellbeing at all times
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, families, and colleagues
Requirements
- Experience supporting young people with SEN in an educational, care, or support setting
- Confidence supporting a range of additional needs, including Autism and learning difficulties
- Willingness to provide personal care when required
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
- Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice
