The Opportunity
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision in the Ealing area. The setting supports pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASD), SEMH, and communication difficulties, requiring a structured and therapeutic approach. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement, helping them overcome barriers to learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils with SEN
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Implement therapeutic and de-escalation strategies
- Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals
- Monitor pupil wellbeing and contribute to support plans and reports
- Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (ASD, SEMH)
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional needs
- Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and therapeutic practices
- All applicants must hold an enhanced DBS and provide two references
