The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher to join an Ofsted Outstanding specialist SEN provision supporting pupils across KS2, KS3 and KS4. This role offers a unique opportunity to deliver a creative and accessible English Language & Literature curriculum to neurodiverse learners, including pupils with ASC and SEMH needs. You will play a key role in supporting pupils to achieve EHCP targets, literacy development, and accredited qualifications such as Functional Skills, GCSEs, and A Levels where appropriate. This is an ideal role for a teacher who takes a holistic, therapeutic, and personalised approach to education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons tailored to EHCP outcomes
- Lead on whole-school literacy development and English curriculum priorities
- Track and assess pupil progress through formative and summative assessment
- Differentiate learning to support neurodiverse pupils (ASC, SEMH)
- Support literacy across the curriculum in collaboration with teaching staff
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and intervention strategies
- Act as a form tutor, supporting pupils’ pastoral development and wellbeing
- Work closely with SENCo, therapists, and leadership to support holistic development
- Manage and support Teaching Assistants and support staff within your team
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) – essential
- Specialism in English (Language and/or Literature)
- Experience working with SEN pupils, particularly ASC and/or SEMH
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
- Proven ability to improve pupil outcomes and engagement
- Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
