Long Term Futures is recruiting a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Westminster from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished Teaching Assistant ready for greater responsibility. You'll work across the school, combining classroom support, targeted interventions and whole-class cover, making this a varied role with plenty of opportunity to make an impact.
The school is looking for someone with strong primary curriculum knowledge who can step confidently into a classroom, establish expectations quickly and keep pupils engaged in learning.
The Role
- Lead classes during PPA cover and teacher release time, following provided planning
- Deliver focused English and Maths interventions for individuals and small groups
- Support teaching and learning across the primary age range
- Adapt activities to ensure pupils with different abilities can access learning
- Maintain clear routines and positive behaviour expectations when leading classes
- Provide teachers with useful feedback on pupil engagement and progress
- Support pupils with additional learning needs where required
- Work closely with teachers and senior leaders across the school
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as an HLTA or highly experienced Teaching Assistant
- HLTA Level 4 qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong relevant experience
- Whole-class teaching or PPA cover experience is highly desirable
- Secure knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly English and Maths
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confident, organised and able to take initiative
- Previous UK primary school experience
