The Opportunity: Long Term Futures is seeking an outgoing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Frankley Green from September 2026. This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support for Key Stage 1 pupils with Autism (ASD), helping them successfully access learning and re-engage with classroom activities. Working alongside the class teacher, you will play a key role in implementing personalised support strategies that promote confidence, communication and independence. The school has a strong reputation for its inclusive ethos and supportive staff team, offering an excellent environment for both pupils and professionals to thrive.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for KS1 pupils with Autism (ASD)
- Support pupils in re-engaging with classroom learning and daily routines
- Implement personalised strategies linked to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans
- Promote communication, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions
- Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation throughout the day
- Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development
- Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO
- Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) β essential
- Experience providing 1:1 support within a primary or specialist educational setting
- Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, proactive, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
