Long Term Futures are recruiting an ambitious and experienced Assistant Headteacher to join a specialist SEN school in Barnet, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established middle or senior leader looking to take the next step within a specialist education setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving school improvement, supporting staff development and ensuring exceptional outcomes for pupils with SEND.

The school is seeking a passionate and resilient leader with a strong understanding of inclusive education and the ability to inspire both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
  • Lead and support staff development, coaching and performance management
  • Work closely with senior leaders, teachers and support staff to ensure high standards across the school
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to school improvement planning
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and therapeutic learning environment
  • Support safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing across the school community

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – essential
  • Experience in a leadership role within a SEN or specialist setting
  • Strong knowledge of SEND, EHCPs and inclusive practice
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive school improvement
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and achieving positive outcomes for all learners

Location & Transport – Barnet, North London

  • Accessible via High Barnet, Totteridge & Whetstone and Finchley Central (Northern Line)
