The Opportunity: Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Assistant to join a well-regarded primary or secondary school in the Westminster area. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and overall personal development, working closely with pastoral leads, safeguarding teams, and teaching staff. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and thrive in a supportive school environment.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
  • Assist with attendance monitoring and engagement strategies
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate pastoral records and contribute to support plans
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
  • Build trusted, positive relationships with pupils and families

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, youth, or education setting
  • Strong communication, listening, and de-escalation skills
  • Empathetic, resilient, and professional approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and pupil wellbeing
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations
