Swadlincote (DE11) £28,870 - £36,590 Per Annum Permanent Position Start: ASAP or September 2026 Full Time

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a Further Education provider in Swadlincote (DE11) to appoint an experienced Carpentry & Joinery Course Leader on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Apprenticeship programmes, supporting learners to achieve excellent outcomes in both practical and theoretical aspects of Carpentry and Joinery. You will also play a key role in course coordination, learner progress, and maintaining strong links with industry and apprenticeship providers.

    • Level 3-5 Education & Teaching
    • Level 3 TAQA Assessor Qualification

    • Level 4 HNC in Construction/Civil Engineering

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging Carpentry & Joinery lessons across Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Apprenticeship programmes
  • Plan, prepare, assess, and monitor learner progress in line with awarding body requirements
  • Support and facilitate practical workshop-based learning and technical skills development
  • Monitor attendance, retention, achievement, and learner outcomes
  • Liaise closely with management, employers, and other departments to support learner success
  • Contribute to course planning, organisation, and quality assurance processes
  • Support the delivery of part-time evening courses where required
  • Promote industry standards, employability skills, and safe working practices throughout all programmes

We Are Looking For:

  • You must have an enhanced DBS on the update service
  • If successful, you must be available to start ASAP or September 2026
  • A recognised Carpentry & Joinery qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Industrial and commercial experience within the Carpentry & Joinery industry
  • Understanding of apprenticeship systems and vocational training pathways
  • Previous teaching experience within an FE setting is desirable
  • An Assessor qualification and teaching qualification are desirable but not essential
  • You should hold, or be willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths qualifications. Evidence of qualifications is required
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate learner records
  • Up-to-date industry knowledge and vocational competence
