Long-Term Futures are working in partnership with a SEMH School to appoint a Therapeutic Teaching Assistant (HLTA Responsibilities) to join their specialist team from September 2026. The school is an independent therapeutic day and boarding school supporting learners aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, and complex learning profiles. The successful candidate will provide both classroom and pastoral support while taking on Higher Level Teaching Assistant responsibilities, including covering lessons and leading interventions when required.

The Role:

  • Deliver high-quality 1:1, small group, and classroom support for learners with SEMH and Autism across Primary, Secondary, and Post-16 settings
  • Build positive, therapeutic relationships that promote confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning
  • Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of personalised learning activities and differentiated resources
  • Contribute to learners' EHCP targets, progress reviews, and wider pastoral development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, residential staff, and families to provide a holistic approach to education and care

About You:

  • HLTA qualification or willingness to work towards gaining the qualification
  • GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, or additional learning needs within an educational setting
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, families, and professionals
  • Full UK driving licence with business insurance (or willingness to obtain) and confidence driving school vehicles
  • Calm, resilient, organised, and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
