Special Needs Teaching Assistant Birmingham (accessible via public transport and a short walk for non-drivers) 110-115 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, long-term temp-to-perm (Full Academic Year)

Long Term Futures is seeking a professional, empathetic Teaching Assistant that is looking to take the next step in their career by working within a SEND School. If you're bubbly, friendly professional, have a good understanding of SEND, and are passionate about supporting children with SEND, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the Role

  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCo, and other professionals, your responsibilities will include but won't be limited to:
  • Providing support to children in or out of the classroom
  • Supporting the teacher in delivering amazing, well-structured lessons
  • Setting expectations specific to each child
  • Delivering positive reinforcement where necessary
  • Monitoring and feeding back progress and/or behaviour to teachers and parents
  • Taking students out of the classroom to regulate and then reintegrate
  • Helping pupils develop resilience, self-regulation and positive social interaction

Ideal candidate profile

  • Passionate and experienced with supporting pupils with SEND
  • Calm, confident and able to remain regulated during behavioural incidents
  • Able to build trust while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
  • Reliable and committed to a long-term placement - a consistent face is of upmost importance
  • Resilience is a key component and necessary when working within a SEND environment
