Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Shirley, supporting a small cohort of pupils with Autism. The school supports up to 26 pupils, all of whom have an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism, across both primary and secondary age groups.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing tailored 1:1 support and helping pupils with additional needs thrive in a structured and nurturing environment.

About the Role

Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and wider professionals, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support to pupils across primary and secondary age ranges
  • Supporting students within the classroom and in structured breakout spaces
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day
  • Implementing strategies to support communication, engagement, and learning
  • Monitoring progress and behaviour, feeding back to staff and parents where required
  • Encouraging independence, social interaction, and confidence
  • Working collaboratively with staff to deliver individualised support plans
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism and/or within a SEND setting
  • Passionate about providing 1:1 support to children and young people
  • Calm, patient, and resilient in a specialist environment
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Reliable and committed to a long-term role
  • Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle
  • Flexible and able to work both required shift patterns
