Learning Support Assistant - Primary SEN - Newham
Full Time | Term Time Only | October 2025 Start

Long Term Futures are working with a caring and inclusive primary school in Newham to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs and complex learning profiles. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who require tailored support, both academically and emotionally. The school is known for its strong SEND provision, excellent leadership, and its commitment to creating a nurturing and accessible learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, including complex needs
- Assist with learning, behaviour, communication and emotional regulation
- Follow EHCPs and work closely with the SENCo, class teacher and therapy teams
- Use strategies and visual tools to support engagement and progress
- Monitor pupil development and contribute to review meetings
- Support pupils with personal care if required (training provided)
- Proven experience supporting children with complex SEN in a primary setting
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach to learning support
- Understanding of autism, communication needs, or physical/medical challenges
- Experience using tools such as PECS, Makaton or visual timetables
- Ability to build trust and foster independence in pupils
