Are you a Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? A welcoming primary school in the Brierley Hill area is seeking a dedicated TA to support pupils with Special Educational Needs. This is a rewarding, hands-on role within a well-established team, ideal for someone confident supporting children with additional needs who need patience, structure, and emotional support throughout the school day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support
- Support children with Autism (including non-verbal pupils) and SEMH needs
- Use visual aids, PECS or Makaton (where appropriate) to aid communication
- Promote self-regulation and support positive behaviour strategies
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external specialists
What We're Looking For
- A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD, non-verbal needs and/or SEMH (essential)
- Confident using communication tools and de-escalation techniques
- A team player who values consistency and routine
