The Opportunity

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Southwark area. The school supports pupils with a range of complex SEN needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, and SEMH. You will be part of a highly supportive team, working in a structured and nurturing environment designed to help pupils thrive both academically and socially. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils with Autism, communication, and emotional regulation needs
  • Implement structured routines and tailored support strategies
  • Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials
  • Help create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support EHCP outcomes
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

Requirements

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN in a school or specialist setting
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to support pupils with additional needs, including Autism and SEMH
  • Understanding of safeguarding, SEN practice, and inclusive education
