The Opportunity
Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Southwark area. The school supports pupils with a range of complex SEN needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, and SEMH. You will be part of a highly supportive team, working in a structured and nurturing environment designed to help pupils thrive both academically and socially. Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils with Autism, communication, and emotional regulation needs
- Implement structured routines and tailored support strategies
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials
- Help create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
- Deliver targeted interventions and support EHCP outcomes
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Requirements
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN in a school or specialist setting
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
- Ability to support pupils with additional needs, including Autism and SEMH
- Understanding of safeguarding, SEN practice, and inclusive education
