Primary Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant
Location: Barrow Hill area, Chesterfield
Salary: £95-£105 per day
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated and emotionally intelligent Teaching Assistant to work within our partnered primary alternative provision in the Chesterfield area. This unique setting supports children who face challenges accessing mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties. You'll play a crucial role in helping these young learners re-engage with education, develop essential skills, and begin to build trust and routine in a safe, supportive environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils aged 5-11 in a small-group or 1:1 setting
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional resilience using proven strategies
- Helping to deliver personalised learning that meets individual needs
- Assisting with classroom activities, routines, and occasional outdoor learning
- Offering structured support during unstructured times such as break and lunch
- Occasionally supporting home-based learning where necessary
- Working collaboratively with a skilled, compassionate team
Ideal Candidate Profile
We're looking for someone who is:
- Patient, calm, and adaptable in challenging situations
- Skilled at building positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disruption
- Committed to supporting children with complex needs in an inclusive setting
- Experienced (or confident) in behaviour management and working in a nurturing role
- Open to professional development and reflective practice
- A driver with access to a vehicle is desirable for flexibility between locations
