Pastoral Support Officer - Secondary School - Islington Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start Up to £135 per day | Long-Term Opportunity Long Term Futures are recruiting an experienced Pastoral Support Officer to join a mainstream secondary school in Islington, working closely with Heads of Year to support students across KS3 and KS4. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in pastoral support, behaviour management or student welfare who is confident working with young people requiring additional guidance. The successful Pastoral Support Officer will play an important role in improving student behaviour, attendance, engagement and wellbeing, working alongside Heads of Year, teachers and the wider pastoral team. Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour or secondary school support role is essential. Key Responsibilities: Work directly with Heads of Year to support students across KS3 and KS4 Provide targeted pastoral and behaviour support to individual students Monitor student attendance, punctuality and behaviour Support Heads of Year with behaviour incidents and follow-up interventions Deliver 1:1 mentoring and small-group pastoral interventions Build positive relationships with students displaying SEMH needs or challenging behaviour Liaise with parents and carers regarding student progress and welfare Support students returning to lessons following behavioural incidents Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and student concerns Work alongside the SENCO, safeguarding team and senior leadership where requiredEssential Requirements: Previous pastoral or behaviour support experience - essential Experience working with secondary-aged students Confidence supporting Heads of Year and pastoral teams Strong understanding of behaviour management and SEMH Experience managing challenging conversations with students and parents Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to remain calm, professional and consistent Previous experience as a Pastoral Support Officer, Pastoral Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor or Head of Year Assistant would be highly relevantLocation & Transport - Islington, North London Excellent connections via Highbury & Islington - Victoria Line and Overground Northern Line access through Angel Piccadilly Line connections via Caledonian Road Strong local bus and rail connections throughout Islington Easily accessible from Camden, Hackney, Haringey, Barnet and Central LondonWhy Work with Long Term Futures Up to £135 per day Long-term, stable secondary school position Weekly pay Work directly alongside experienced Heads of Year Opportunity to develop within pastoral leadership, inclusion and student welfare Free CPD covering behaviour, SEMH and safeguarding No day-to-day supply - long-term placements only Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement Apply Now - Immediate Interviews If you're an experienced Pastoral Support Officer, Behaviour Mentor or Pastoral Assistant looking for a long-term role in Islington, apply today with Long Term Futures.
