Long Term Futures is recruiting a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join a specialist education setting in East London, supporting children and young people with complex needs, SEMH and neurodiverse profiles.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, delivering targeted therapeutic interventions that support pupils in accessing education, developing independence and improving emotional and sensory regulation.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention
- Support pupils with sensory, physical and functional needs
- Contribute to and implement EHCP targets and therapeutic plans
- Develop sensory programmes and communication passports
- Work closely with teaching staff to adapt the learning environment
- Provide training and guidance to school staff on therapeutic strategies
- Work collaboratively with families and external professionals
- Monitor and evaluate progress using evidence‑based approaches
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD or complex needs
- Strong understanding of sensory integration and therapeutic approaches
- Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills
- A proactive, compassionate and solution‑focused approach
- Experience supporting pupils with high‑risk or complex behavioural needs
- Background in education or specialist settings
- Knowledge of therapeutic frameworks such as sensory‑based interventions or trauma‑informed practice
