Location: Newark NG24

Pay: Β£90 - Β£106 per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:45pm (term-time only)

Contract: Long-term to permanent

Start: ASAP or after February half-term

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in the Newark area. This role is ideal for someone who has worked with young people in a school, youth group, care setting or similar environment and wants to develop their skills within a SEN and behaviour-support role.

Pupils in this setting benefit from adults who are calm, consistent and confident in creating a structured, positive learning environment. You'll play a key part in helping pupils re-engage with learning and build confidence, independence and emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist with structured learning activities tailored to individual pupils
  • Build positive relationships to support behaviour, confidence and engagement
  • Encourage pupils to participate in classroom routines and hands-on tasks
  • Help maintain a calm, predictable environment with clear expectations
  • Support outdoor, practical and creative learning activities

About you:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, mentoring, clubs, care, etc.)
  • Comfortable supporting pupils with behaviour or SEMH needs
  • Able to remain composed, encouraging and solution-focused
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in SEND, SEMH support and behaviour-focused roles
  • Training can be provided for the right candidate. A background in SEND or behaviour support is helpful but not required.
