The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a proactive and organised Science Technician to join a well-regarded secondary school in the Kensington & Chelsea area from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to support a thriving Science department by preparing practical experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for pupils across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers to deliver high-quality practical Science lessons.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical Science lessons
- Support teachers during practical demonstrations and experiments where required
- Maintain laboratories, equipment, and preparation rooms to a high standard
- Ensure chemicals and equipment are stored safely and in line with Health & Safety regulations
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, ordering equipment and consumables when required
- Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Support the department with administrative tasks, displays, and practical assessments
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with COSHH regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment (desirable)
- Good knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical work
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy school environment
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people's education
