Opportunity

Long Term Futures is seeking experienced and passionate Science Teachers to join a specialist National Online School, delivering high‑quality virtual education to pupils with complex needs, including neurodiverse learners and those experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). One of these roles will also include teaching Health & Social Care alongside Science. This is a unique opportunity to teach small groups of pupils remotely, delivering a therapeutic and personalised curriculum that supports both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with pastoral and clinical teams to ensure each pupil receives tailored support aligned with their EHCP and therapeutic learning plans. You will deliver engaging, creative, and pupil‑focused lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, GCSE, and A Level specifications, while tailoring learning to each pupil's EHCP and therapeutic learning plan. This is a unique opportunity to work within a therapeutic education model and make a meaningful impact on pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. The role also offers strong career progression opportunities, including leadership pathways, subject development, and mentoring responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, pupil‑focused virtual lessons to small groups
  • Plan and differentiate lessons in line with EHCP targets and individual needs
  • Develop and deliver subject‑specific curriculum using therapeutic education principles
  • Provide bespoke 1:1 tuition where required
  • Track and report on pupil progress, including half‑termly reports
  • Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN specialists, and leadership teams
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour using therapeutic approaches
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive online learning environment
  • Contribute to whole‑school initiatives including the LIFE curriculum

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
  • Experience working with SEN pupils, particularly neurodiverse learners
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience in virtual teaching, tutoring, or alternative provision (desirable)
  • Excellent IT skills and confidence delivering online learning
  • Strong communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive, therapeutic education
