This is a full-time position for someone who can provide consistent, practical support within the classroom and help pupils engage positively with their learning. The role will involve a mixture of individual, small-group and classroom-based support. Pupil needs may vary, so we are looking for someone adaptable who can build positive relationships, follow guidance from teaching staff and adjust their approach to suit different learners. Previous relevant experience is required, although candidates with strong transferable experience may also be considered. Responsibilities Support pupils with a range of SEND needs across Key Stages 1 and 2. Provide a mixture of one-to-one, small-group and general classroom support. Help pupils access lessons and activities by adapting your support in line with teacher guidance. Encourage engagement, confidence and increasing independence in learning. Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, helping them feel supported within the school environment. Work closely with class teachers and other support staff to maintain a consistent approach. Observe pupil engagement and progress, sharing relevant feedback with teaching staff. Help prepare and organise appropriate classroom activities and learning resources where required. Promote positive behaviour and reinforce clear classroom expectations. Follow the school's safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately. Essential Candidate Requirements Previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational, SEND or closely related setting. A patient, adaptable and consistent approach to supporting pupils with differing needs. Confidence working both individually with pupils and as part of a wider classroom team. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow guidance from teaching and support staff. Ability to build appropriate professional relationships with primary-aged pupils. Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new Enhanced DBS check. Candidates with transferable experience involving children, young people or individuals requiring additional support may also be considered where their skills are relevant to the role.
