The Opportunity
Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and experienced Qualified Teacher to join a specialist Post-16 SEN provision in the Edgware area. The setting supports young adults aged 16-24 with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional, or sensory challenges. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver meaningful, personalised learning that promotes independence, confidence, and preparation for adulthood in a nurturing and structured environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to Post-16 learners with SEN
- Support students' development of life skills, functional skills, and vocational learning
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders
- Implement personalised learning plans (PLPs) and track progress effectively
- Build positive, supportive relationships with learners, families, and professionals
- Promote independence, communication, and emotional regulation through structured support
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
- Experience working with SEN learners, ideally within Post-16 or secondary settings
- Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
- A patient, adaptable, and student-centred approach
- Understanding of safeguarding, SEND legislation, and best practice
- Commitment to inclusive education and helping young adults achieve meaningful outcomes
