Long Term Futures is recruiting a Specialist Teaching Learning Assistant to join a small, specialist SEMH school in the LE8 area. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging, offering a highly structured and nurturing environment with very small class sizes and excellent staff‐to‐pupil ratios.

Pupils follow a blended curriculum that combines academic learning with outdoor activities and therapeutic or wellbeing‐focused sessions. The school's approach is calm, consistent, and relationship‐led, with a strong emphasis on clear routines and personalised support.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small‐group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting learning across classroom‐based, outdoor and practical activities
  • Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Following individual support plans and contributing to progress tracking
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and engagement

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching or similar)
  • Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, supportive and consistent manner
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Applicants from sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds are strongly encouraged
  • Candidates must be fully compliant, including a DBS on the update system and two professional references
