Long Term Futures are working with a supportive primary school in Ealing to recruit a Year 5 Teaching Assistant to support a class with a high proportion of EAL pupils, alongside children with SEMH needs. The school is seeking a confident communicator with an excellent grasp of spoken English, who can provide calm, compassionate and consistent support. This is a long-term role starting ASAP, with a clear pathway to a permanent position.

About the Role

  • You will support pupils in a Year 5 classroom where clear communication and strong language modelling are essential.
  • The role involves supporting EAL learners to access the curriculum, reinforcing vocabulary and instructions, and helping pupils build confidence in spoken English.
  • You will also support children with SEMH needs, using a patient, empathetic approach to promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement targeted strategies and interventions.
