A well-established, nurturing Alternative Provision in Chesterfield is seeking compassionate and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. We support young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream secondary education, many with SEMH or additional behaviour needs. Our mission is to help every pupil re‑engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and achieve lasting personal and academic growth.
What We're Looking For:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent secondary school experience.
- Confident working with KS3 and KS4 pupils and delivering independent sessions.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- Flexible, resilient, and committed to helping every pupil succeed.
- A proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
- Candidate must be fully compliant; this includes a DBS on the update system, UK Driving License and 2x references.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in line with the curriculum and school priorities.
- Lead targeted interventions for individuals and small groups to support learning.
- Promote positive behaviour, focus, and engagement in lessons.
- Support learners with time out times and de‑escalating techniques.
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and the pastoral team to support student development.
- Candidates must have their own car and business insurance as there may be some driving for school involved - e.g. Safe & Well checks at pupils' homes.
