The Opportunity:

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with an Outstanding Further Education college in Burton upon Trent to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support learners aged 16+ across a range of academic and vocational subjects. This role involves providing targeted one-to-one and small group in-class support, with a particular focus on GCSE Maths, GCSE English, and vocational learning programmes. You will play a key role in helping learners overcome barriers to education, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes within a highly supportive and learner-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group in-class support for learners aged 16+ across multiple curriculum areas
  • Support students within GCSE Maths and English lessons, helping to build confidence and improve attainment
  • Assist learners in accessing vocational subjects by adapting learning strategies and supporting classroom engagement
  • Encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and independent learning skills within lessons
  • Work collaboratively with tutors, curriculum staff, and support teams to ensure learners receive tailored support
  • Monitor learner progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to help inform support strategies
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment across the college

  • Previous experience supporting young people or adults with additional learning needs is desirable
  • Experience supporting GCSE Maths and English would be highly beneficial
