Long Term Futures is seeking an empathetic and experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to join a highly supportive primary school community located in the borough of Croydon. You will be an indispensable member of the pastoral team, dedicated to assisting pupils with their social, emotional, and behavioural development across Key Stage 1 and 2.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Nurturing Pupil Well-being
  • Provide intensive one-to-one and small group support to children requiring specific behavioural and emotional guidance.
  • Successfully implement pro-active strategies to help pupils develop better emotional self-regulation and coping mechanisms.
  • Establish strong, respectful, and professional working relationships with students.
  • Expertly use de-escalation techniques and maintain a consistently calm and composed presence during challenging incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCo to monitor and track the progress of targeted pupils.
  • Act as a positive role model, contributing to the school's overarching positive behaviour management framework.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a role supporting children's behaviour, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • A comprehensive understanding of various behaviour management strategies and support methodologies.
  • The critical ability to remain calm and stable in high-pressure or demanding classroom situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills for liaising effectively with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A mandatory enhanced DBS check, or the immediate willingness to submit an application for one.
