Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Shirley, supporting a small cohort of pupils with Autism. The school supports up to 26 pupils, all of whom have an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism, across both primary and secondary age groups.
About the Role
- Providing consistent 1:1 support to pupils across primary and secondary age ranges
- Supporting students within the classroom and in structured breakout spaces
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day
- Implementing strategies to support communication, engagement, and learning
- Monitoring progress and behaviour, feeding back to staff and parents where required
- Encouraging independence, social interaction, and confidence
- Working collaboratively with staff to deliver individualised support plans
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience working with pupils with Autism and/or within a SEND setting
- Passionate about providing 1:1 support to children and young people
- Calm, patient, and resilient in a specialist environment
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
- Reliable and committed to a long‑term role
- Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle
- Flexible and able to work both required shift patterns
