Location: Alfreton (DE55)

PayScale: Between £410 and £450 a Week (after deductions)

Hours: 8.30am - 15.30pm, Mon - Friday, Full Time

Start date: ASAP

The Opportunity:

As a secondary school teaching assistant, you will provide academic and pastoral support to students across a range of subjects in years 7, 8 & 9 (Key Stage 3) in a mainstream secondary school. Proven experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis and across a class setting. Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
  • Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to students with a variety of special educational needs across all years
  • Support students to remain engaged and focused on lessons, adapting resources where needed
  • Assist with differentiation, coursework, and organisation to help students access the full curriculum
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment through strong behaviour management skills
  • Liaise regularly with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly

Who We're Looking For:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential)
  • A good level of knowledge is required for core subjects such as maths, English and science
  • Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents
  • Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being
