The Opportunity:
As a secondary school teaching assistant, you will provide academic and pastoral support to students across a range of subjects in years 7, 8 & 9 (Key Stage 3) in a mainstream secondary school. Proven experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis and across a class setting. Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
- Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to students with a variety of special educational needs across all years
- Support students to remain engaged and focused on lessons, adapting resources where needed
- Assist with differentiation, coursework, and organisation to help students access the full curriculum
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment through strong behaviour management skills
- Liaise regularly with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly
Who We're Looking For:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential)
- A good level of knowledge is required for core subjects such as maths, English and science
- Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN
- A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents
- Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being
