About LondonEnergy:

LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community.

By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the Role:

As a Site Supervisor, you will oversee the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and personnel in the tipping and recycling areas, ensuring smooth operations within our waste management facility. You’ll manage the storage of waste, supervise both static and mobile plant operations, and lead a dedicated team of mobile plant and site operatives. If you’re a hands-on team player, with a passion for leadership, safety and efficiency, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversee waste and vehicle movement to ensure safe traffic flow, across weighbridges, control site systems using SCADA, and monitor waste tonnage with Microsoft D365 and Win weigh systems.
  • Site Supervision: Act as the main point of contact out of hours, ensuring site security, locking/unlocking as key holder, and taking necessary actions during emergencies.
  • Compliance & Safety: Supervise the removal of excess tonnage, manage waste inspections, ensure safe handling of spillages, and monitor manual handling bays. Ensure all vehicles leaving the site are compliant with weight regulations.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure daily maintenance checks of all plant and equipment, and report defects immediately. Oversee traffic management and ensure compliance with company safety and maintenance procedures.
  • People Management: Manage team performance, conduct performance reviews, monitor attendance, and ensure compliance with safety standards and personal protective equipment use.
  • Waste Management & Disposal: Supervise and control operations in the detritus bay, ensure compliance with company waste disposal procedures, and monitor waste non-compliance at the point of discharge.
  • Incident Management: Record all incidents/accidents, ensure safety procedures are followed, and ensure compliance with company’s \”permit to work\” and \”tag out\” protocols during maintenance work.

Requirements:

  • You must be able to work on a 7 day rotating shift pattern, Monday to Sunday
  • Experience in waste operations (desirable)
  • Strong numeracy and computer literacy skills, with system understanding
  • Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and courteously with site users
  • Self-motivated, able to work flexibly and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Experience dealing directly with borough drivers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop others and work under pressure

Benefits:

  • Private Medical & Life Insurance
  • Company Pension Scheme
