LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
About the role
You will be responsible for 2nd and 3rd level IT Infrastructure and Cloud engineer duties. Responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of on-premises and cloud infrastructure services. The role ensures high availability, security, resilience, and cost efficiency across multi-cloud environments, supporting business-critical systems and digital transformation initiatives. As part of a diverse IT team, you will be supporting over 480 users across all sites in London.
Responsibilities
- Day to day, you will be working within the ITIL V4 Framework, ensuring IT policies, procedures, and processes are followed.
- Deliver 2nd and 3rd line support for cloud and on-prem infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience.
- Design, implement, and maintain hybrid infrastructure across VMware and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Manage identity and access controls using Active Directory and Azure AD (Entra ID), including MFA and Conditional Access.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure, network, and security incidents, acting as an escalation point.
- Implement and maintain security controls, patching, and compliance aligned with ISO 27001, NCSC, and Cyber Essentials.
- Support IT projects, cloud migrations, and system upgrades, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and standards.
Requirements
- Strong experience in IT infrastructure and cloud engineering within hybrid environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows Server (2019+), and VMware platforms.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and support.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience with security tools such as EDR/antivirus, email security, and access control systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, incident management, and working within ITIL-aligned environments.
- Experience with automation, scripting (e.g., PowerShell), and continuous service improvement practices.
