About LondonEnergy

At LondonEnergy, we're proud of our vital role in managing North London's waste and protecting the environment. We handle and process 750,000 tonnes of waste each year, making us the second largest waste contract in the UK. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the role

We are seeking a Civils and Facilities Project Lead to join our Transition Department at LondonEnergy. In this role, you will support the successful delivery of civil engineering and building services projects across our waste management facilities, working closely with a range of trusted third party partners. You will play a key role in providing technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all solutions are safe, compliant, and ready for operational use. This includes reviewing and challenging designs, supporting commissioning and handover activities, and collaborating closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure facilities are practical and fit for purpose. This is a hands-on opportunity suited to someone who is comfortable working in live operational environments and enjoys bridging the gap between design, construction, and day-to-day operations. LondonEnergy operates an open and collaborative culture, offering exposure across the organisation and opportunities to contribute to cross-functional discussions that drive successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent technical review and assurance of civil and building services designs, ensuring alignment with operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of technical risks, challenging design solutions and driving early issue resolution across project teams.
  • Oversee mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) systems to ensure designs deliver maintainability, resilience, and efficient long-term operation.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes, ensuring assets are fully operational, compliant, and ready for integration into live environments.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on time, and to required quality standards.
  • Act as a key technical interface between design, construction, and operational teams, ensuring facilities are fit for purpose in live operational settings.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety standards, and governance requirements, contributing to safe systems of work, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC/NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant discipline in Civil Engineering

Other Requirements

  • 10 years' experience delivering civil engineering and/or building services projects, ideally in industrial, utilities, or waste management environments
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems within operational facilities
  • Experience reviewing and assuring technical designs
  • Experience supporting commissioning and operational readiness, including working under CDM regulations
  • Good understanding of the full project lifecycle, from design through to handover
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, with strong stakeholder management, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent (nice to have)

Benefits

  • Private Medical & Life Insurance
  • Company Pension Scheme
  • Annual Leave Package
  • Employee Recognition Scheme
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Many more benefits
