About the role

As a Site Supervisor of our EcoPark Recycling team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the Reuse & Recycling Centre (RRC) at all times. You will also be responsible for leading and managing a dedicated team, ensuring they are well‑supported, motivated, and working to the highest standards. Additionally, you will be expected to step in and provide support as needed, as well as standing in for the Area RRC Supervisors and Contracts Manager when required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compliance
    • Ensure RRC operations comply with Waste Management Permits, regulations, and Company procedures.
    • Conduct site inspections, report findings, and maintain staff and public safety.
    • Assist with Health and Safety updates and Environmental Agency requirements, including Waste Tonnage returns.
  • Business & People Management
    • Support efficient site operations, manage expenditure, and meet contractual requirements.
    • Oversee vehicle and plant operations, propose improvements, and complete reports on time.
    • Lead and motivate staff, manage training, resolve issues, and supervise sub‑contractors.
    • Liaise with external stakeholders as needed.
  • Business Operations & Efficiency
    • Assist in managing and controlling site expenditure, ensuring cost‑effective operations.
    • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all vehicles and mobile plant on site.
    • Organise and utilise vehicles and plant efficiently, ensuring cost‑effective operation.
    • Maintain all company electronic systems, including the Gatehouse system, and ensure regular maintenance of static and mobile plant as per manufacturer guidelines and company procedures, including monitoring inspections and defect reports.
  • People Management
    • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, maintain safe and effective practices, and identify training needs.
    • Resolve employee relations issues, provide motivation, and supervise sub‑contractor activities.
    • Ensure all employees and visitors comply with Company policies and procedures.
    • Deal courteously with the public and liaise with landlords, tenants, and external bodies as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a Waste Operations / Recycling environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills particularly in dealing with the public
  • Flexible in relation to working at different RRC sites as necessary and in accordance with the required working hours and rota.
  • Current driving licence and hold the required competency certificate for operating mobile plant.
  • Be a competent user of Microsoft (Word and Excel)
  • COTC qualified (desirable)
