About Us
JD Healthcare Group is one of the UK's leading fertility and reproductive healthcare providers, operating brands including London Women's Clinic, London Egg Bank, London Sperm Bank, KindIVF, Surrey Park Women's Clinic and Elective Egg Freezing across the United Kingdom. Since 1985, we have been supporting individuals and families through some of the most significant journeys of their lives — combining world-class clinical expertise with genuine human care. Everything we do is driven by a shared purpose: helping people build the families they dream of.
About The Role
The Payroll Specialist sits at the intersection of HR and Finance, making sure everyone across the JDH group is paid accurately and on time. The role covers four areas:
- running the monthly payroll cycle;
- managing statutory and contractual pay including sickness, maternity and other family leave;
- administering benefits, pension and reward;
- acting as the first point of contact for pay queries.
You will work day-to-day with the Head of HR and report to them directly, with a broader accountability to the CFO on payroll governance and controls. You will also liaise regularly with Finance on journals, cost reporting and bonus accruals, and with HR colleagues on starters, leavers and contract changes. Initially the payroll will continue to run through our external provider, and a central objective of this role is to lead the transition to an in-house payroll function — reviewing current processes, building the business case, selecting a system and taking it through to go-live.
What You Will Do
- Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll cycle with our external provider, from collating inputs and checking starters, leavers and changes through to sign-off, reconciliation and HMRC/RTI submission.
- Process SSP, contractual sick pay, maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and other family leave pay — statutory and enhanced — using absence data from CIPHR.
- Calculate holiday pay, final pay and all other leaver entitlements.
- Administer the workplace pension including auto-enrolment, opt-outs, re-enrolment, salary sacrifice schemes and contributions, and maintain accurate pay and benefits data in CIPHR.
- Support annual pay reviews, bonus payments and reward projects alongside the Head of HR and Head of Finance.
- Act as first point of contact for pay, pension and benefits queries; resolve them promptly; and track recurring issues back to root cause.
- Produce payroll journals, cost reports and reconciliations for Finance, and manage Apprenticeship Levy reporting and year-end outputs (P60s, P11Ds).
- Lead the transition of payroll from our external provider to in-house — including process review, system selection, business case, parallel running, data migration and go-live.

- High accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet fixed monthly deadlines.
- Clear, confident communication with employees and managers at all levels.
- Discretion with confidential pay data and an ability to work effectively across HR and Finance.

- Experience with CIPHR HR and/or payroll modules.
