Role & Responsibilities
London Wildlife Trust champions nature's recovery in the capital. With over 41% of our species having declined since the early 1970s, we urgently need to bring wildlife back, at scale and pace. We're working towards a London alive with wildlife by empowering more people and organisations to reconnect with nature and take action to protect it.
To help us achieve this ambition, we're looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening our financial insight and supporting better decision-making across the charity. You'll work closely with teams across the organisation to ensure our resources are used effectively, our funding is managed responsibly, and our conservation ambitions are backed by sound financial planning.
What you'll be doing:
- Turn numbers into insight: Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and deliver clear, timely reporting that helps us understand our financial performance.
- Be a trusted business partner: Work closely with departmental Heads and project leads, leading finance review meetings and helping teams understand budgets, variances and financial risks.
- Make every pound count: Oversee restricted funds, ensuring funding is tracked accurately and spent in line with donor requirements and project budgets.
- Support our financial planning: Help shape annual budgets and forecasts, maintain our cash flow forecast and provide the financial insight we need to plan for the future.
- Help us secure funding for nature: Provide financial information for donor reports and work with our fundraising team to develop budgets for funding bids.
- Drive commercial performance: Analyse the performance of our trading operations, London Wildlife Limited, identifying opportunities to improve financial outcomes.
- Improve how we work: Develop and enhance our financial reporting systems, making information more accessible, useful and effective for decision-making.
- Build connections across the charity: Develop strong working relationships across teams, provide ad hoc financial analysis and collaborate with colleagues across the Finance team.

- Experience working in finance teams within a charity environment
- Extensive business partnering experience
- Understanding of the SORP and experience of managing restricted funds
- Excellent analytical skills and strong technical financial knowledge
