Salary: £14.60 per hour

Location: x1 Team Leader based at Camley Street Natural Park, x1 Team Leader based at Walthamstow Wetlands (with a requirement to work across Camley Street, Walthamstow Wetlands and Woodberry Wetlands for operational cover).

Are you an experienced hospitality professional with a passion for great service and nature? We are looking for two Café Team Leaders to ensure the smooth running of our cafés at our stunning nature reserves. You will be at the heart of our visitor experience, leading shifts, supporting team development, and maintaining high service and hygiene standards.

Role & Responsibilities

As our Café Team Leader, you will ensure the smooth day-to-day operations with the café whilst leading shifts and maintaining high service and hygiene standards. You will support the café supervisor in delivering great service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and the ongoing development of team members.

• Lead shifts and oversee café assistants in the absence of a supervisor
• Ensure smooth daily operations, including opening/closing procedures, shift timings, and compliance with health and safety regulations
• Deliver excellent customer service, handling complaints professionally and ensuring a positive visitor experience
• Effective stock management, including ordering, monitoring wastage, conducting stock audits, and ensuring proper portioning and storage
• Maintain café hygiene and cleanliness, overseeing daily deep cleaning, temperature checks, and compliance with food safety standards
• Manage equipment maintenance, ensuring coffee machines, fridges, and other appliances are in optimal condition and reporting faults promptly
• Assist with staff training and development, working with the Café Operations Manager to foster a high-performing team
• Prepare and serve high-quality food and beverages, ensuring the café is well-stocked and ready for peak service times
• Support financial processes, cross-checking delivery notes and liaising with the Finance team as needed
• Work collaboratively with other London Wildlife Trust teams, contributing to a seamless visitor experience and assisting with events when required.

Our ideal Café Team Leader:

• Experience in hospitality (including cafés, restaurants, bars, or hotels)
• Proven ability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively
• Knowledge of cleaning and hygiene standards in food service
• Strong customer service skills and ability to handle complaints professionally
• A proactive approach and ability to stay calm under pressure
