A leading provider of financial services is seeking a proven and dedicated UK Technology CIO with a strong background in IT Solutions/Systems within a commercial banking environment.
The role has functional oversight of 400 indirect full time employment and oversight of the CMB UK Payments, who provide the business functionality to support customer and product capabilities within the UK.
The role:
Define, develop and practically implement state-of-the-art strategies to solving complex and ambiguous problems using modern set of technology platforms.
Build a great engineering team that delivers excellent results to difficult problems across multiple functions and geographies.
Be responsible and accountable for the full lifecycle of UK DBB Web Channels, UK DBB Mobile, and Kinetic, including strategic design, build quality, and service uptime metrics
Support the UK COO and Global CIO with evidencing compliance with SMR accountabilities relating to the Technology Control Environment.
Support the UK Regulatory team with any reporting requests relating to technology strategy, resilience, or customer-impacting incidents.
Delivery against a digital-first strategic operating plan that ensures resources (capability, people & funding) deliver improvements in current customer journeys and new features.
Provide thought leadership for the team.
Design, develop, and implement state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems using a modern set of technology platforms, delivery disciplines, and DevOps minds
Manage the annual budget spread between designing and developing new services (Change The Bank) as well as managing and supporting existing services (Run the Bank). Enabling reduced operational cost, ensuring headcount distribution is optimal to deliver business value at optimal cost, and reducing RTB cost to optimise CTB, without impact to resilience and controls.
Optimise resources globally to create an integrated team, leveraging the capabilities of staff in both central and regional teams
Manage the efforts of global teams, including all aspects of data processing design, development, acquisition, testing, conversion, and production support.
Promote technology sharing and clear operating environments to achieve greater cost efficiency
Provide senior management with an overall comfort level and technological positioning of the company relative to the mission and industry
Lead and develop an effective global team through communication, performance management, development plans, and reward/recognition practices
Able to manage multiple applications within tight budgets and time frames
Skills:
A proven Technology leader who is passionate about driving the business agenda within financial services.
Ability to lead and influence global teams in a matrixed financial organisation
Strong understanding of operational effectiveness and strong number-driven
Leading and directing executive and non-executive work groups and effecting change through people
Managing operational functions, directing process reengineering, and conducting efficiency exercises
Keen understanding of products, services, and underlying processes to fulfil
Strong commercial skills, ability to balance risks vs. rewards, and maximising the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business
Deep and wide subject matter expertise of exceptional ability to lead diverse teams across global functions, with strong people leadership, teamwork, gathering information and analysing, judgment and decision making, and communication competencies
Respectful of different cultures, working with colleagues from across all five regions (North America, LATAM, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Europe) as required
Understanding of cloud computing concepts and their impact on service and change delivery
Experience with service level management, incident management, and change management
Experience with IT automation tools, DevSecOps practices, and technologies
