Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for LSEG’s Elektron Real Time Data Distribution System in the Real Time Core team. The successful candidate will combine strong technical and collaboration skills in a demanding and dynamic environment. You will work directly with your team and with groups across the organisation to ensure the best service for our client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engaging with the product owner, team lead, architects and other members of the global team to help build world-class solutions to address our customer needs.
- Demonstrating a consistent focus on quality and security, delivering reliable and robust solutions.
- Managing own workload and promoting an inclusive and open culture.
- Taking initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.
- Actively participating in Scrum meetings, giving timely status updates to the Team Lead and/or Scrum Master on areas for which you are responsible.
- Through agile retrospectives and reviews, analysing and adapting, finding innovative ways to enable your team to work more effectively delivering on time to defined standards of quality.
- Working well under pressure and adept at taking problems and seeing them through to resolution with minimal supervision.
- Ensuring that the Knowledge Base is kept up to date with the team's knowledge and technical issues resolution.
Key Relationships:
- Primary - Development Manager, Development team, Operations Support team, Quality Engineering Teams, Architecture, SCRUM Master, Product Owner, and Business Experts assigned to projects.
- Secondary - other LSEG staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have: Strong C/C++ experience (minimum 5 years) for cross-platform development, particularly RedHat Linux.
- Experience in using repositories for multi-person, multi-software versions pipelines of delivery.
- Use of AGILE Software Development techniques including TDD and/or BDD, and Atlassian toolsets.
- Knowledge of building and using automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Degree level qualification (Computing / Computer Science or related discipline).
Nice to have:
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- High Transactional, Low Latency development experience.
- Development of Scripting Languages including Python, JS and Node.
- Cloud technologies, AWS/Azure Cloud Formation.
