For Companies Senior Manager: Infrastructure Operations Engineering
We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the ISD Markets Operations Engineering Function. The successful candidate will oversee a talented team of engineers, demonstrating excellent technical skills to deliver mission-critical infrastructure with high availability, performance, and security.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of system engineers, providing expertise and implementing enhancements such as automation, monitoring, and alerting.
- Manage and monitor key improvements to existing systems and infrastructure.
- Design, architect, and drive enhancements from conception through implementation.
- Take ownership of project delivery, reporting progress, raising risks, and managing conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Plan proactively to meet deliverables and strategic goals.
- Participate in designing information and operational support systems.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, software, and management tools.
- Provide advanced support for the current environment when needed.
- Maintain system stability and reliability, acting as a key escalation point for major incidents.
- Ensure high system and infrastructure availability, proposing strategic changes and liaising with vendors and IT teams.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and work with engineers to resolve them.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Develop and maintain scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Work with the Issues Tracking System to meet SLA requirements.
- Document processes and procedures thoroughly.
- Understand complex environments to identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Assist with out-of-hours and weekend changes as required.
The Person
- BSc/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years).
- Proven experience in UNIX/Linux environments, virtualization, and containerization (e.g., VMware, RHEV).
- Experience with monitoring systems, automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible), and scripting languages (e.g., shell, Perl, Ruby, Python).
- Networking knowledge and database experience (Oracle, PLSQL).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-driven, responsive, and capable of working under tight deadlines.
