FTSE Russell (LSEG) is building next-generation distribution capabilities that deliver index data to the global financial community — across APIs, cloud platforms, and modern data delivery channels. We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Engineer to design and scale the systems that power this distribution — enabling reliable, secure, and high-performance data delivery to institutional clients worldwide.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Design and build scalable data distribution systems, delivering data via APIs, cloud platforms, and client-facing services.
- Own system architecture and data modelling, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability at scale.
- Develop secure, well-designed APIs and data services for external consumers.
- Drive engineering quality through testing, review, and standards, ensuring production-grade delivery.
- Partner closely with product and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions.
Tech Stack
- Development: TypeScript, Angular/React, Python, SQL, OpenAPI.
- Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, SNS, Aurora, and others as required).
- Databases: PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg, DynamoDB, VectorDB (e.g. ChromaDB).
- IaC and CI/CD: Terraform, AWS CLI, GitLab.
- AI Development: Agentic AI tooling (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Strong experience building distributed backend systems and APIs.
- Proven ability to own system design and data modelling.
- Experience working with cloud-native platforms (AWS or similar).
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data-intensive systems.
- Ability to lead through code quality, testing, and technical standards.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data distribution, APIs, or client-facing platforms.
- Exposure to financial data or market data systems.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tooling.
