At LSEG, we are reimagining the way in which our customers consume our data and services. The Group Director of Content Infrastructure & Tech Standards is key to the success of this vision. Reporting to the Group Head of Data Content, you will have a core team who are accountable for owning, operating, and transforming our content creation processes and tooling that produces our world leading and critical data sets underpinning our product offerings across LSEG. The role will work closely across the established businesses along with a strategic transformation focus working with the Microsoft Partnership and internal stakeholders leveraging the power of automation and AI for the highest quality data delivery for our customers. The role is ideally suited to someone from a strong engineering background who wants to make an impact in an engineering biased operational environment focused on extracting the best value from modern engineering practices to quickly realise value at the highest quality for our customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end strategy to create a self-service, straight through processing organisation within Content Operations to drive greater agility, scale, data quality while reducing risk.
  • Support the modernisation and simplification of Content Ops Database estate through the Microsoft/LSEG partnership with responsibility for ensuring that the data product meets current and future customer and business needs.
  • Simplify Content Operations tooling by creating a small number self-service reusable enterprise tools that satisfy use cases across Content Ops for example for sourcing, extraction, quality control and workflow.
  • Operational management oversight of central sourcing & extraction operations.
  • Ensures data content is properly resourced with appropriate planning for growth, and all the delivery teams have been trained in appropriate methodologies and understand their role in the organisation.
  • Champions and delivers an agile delivery methodology and a continuous improvement framework to drive efficiency and enable business agility.
  • Innovates in partnership with product management function and engineering to deliver revenue growth.
  • Drives cost reduction of delivery and maintenance through technology and process innovation.
  • Implements a governance framework for technology delivery and to ensure appropriate reporting and remedial actions are being undertaken to keep programs on track.
  • Manages relationships with key suppliers, setting performance standards and managing the resolution of escalated service issues.
  • Manages and develops high performing and diverse teams, with clear succession plans.
  • Technical delivery of large data estates balancing feature development with operational excellence.
  • Transformation strategy and execution.
  • Optimise delivery performance across the teams and businesses.
  • Work across internal and external stakeholders and senior executives to ensure transparency and communication against agreed plans.
  • Risk Management - identify, coordinate and plan resolution of programme and portfolio risks.
  • Problem solving and decision making - sound judgment at a senior management level using assertiveness and influencing skills to demonstrate business benefits and to ensure the decision is fully understood and accepted.
  • Responsible for the data science and AI strategy within data content in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Responsible for the technical standards, and developer experience working with internal stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Deep technical level data experience across various technology stacks, passionate about transformation.
  • Experience of supporting large-scale transformation at a Financial Markets firm, both in influencing technical strategy and successful implementation in a hands-on capacity.
  • Experience in applying automation, ML and data science at scale in a data rich environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to tailor communication for facilitating discussion and decision making.
  • A real self-starter with the ability to make clear decisions and solve problems, generating solutions and ultimately getting the job done.
  • Proactively assess trend and risks to identify problem areas.
  • Creativity and innovation: Continuously maintain an innovative approach whilst operating with a set of defined internal and external communication processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in engineering product research, delivery, data science & ML, co-ordination and support.
  • Experience in generative AI, ideally around document parsing and extraction of semi and unstructured data.
  • Experience taking research into a full production environment.
  • Strong track record of developer experience, defining, evolving and governing technical standards for cross functional teams.
  • Extensive experience of Software Development, Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance.
  • Degree in related field or relevant qualification.
  • Experience working with large data estates and data distribution methods.
  • Experience of machine learning, data science and generative AI focused on data sourcing and extraction.
  • Experience of working in highly regulated environments (e.g. banking).
  • Broad understanding of the Data Intelligence domain within Financial Markets.
  • Strong financial and commercial competence with a customer driven approach.
  • Knowledge of current technological trends and concepts (e.g. data mesh and fabric).
  • Expertise in understanding and leading internal and supplier teams to drive efficiency in the technology organisation.
  • Strong public cloud experience.
  • Strong lakehouse technologies experience.
  • Strong data quality, observability and automation experience.
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Experience in transformation of a global operational, engineering focused team.
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Encourage trust, handle expectations, and gain sponsorship with business, technology and senior leadership teams.
  • Works with vendors to understand technical and business opportunities performing overall due diligence on third parties as needed.
