Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical FX Quantitative Researcher to join our FICC Quantitative Research team, based in London. This manager-level role is focused on improving the robustness, tradability, and representativeness of FX benchmarks through deep empirical research and methodological enhancement/evolution.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will drive FX quantitative research initiatives aimed at reducing benchmark susceptibility to manipulation and enhancing and evolving methodological design, consistent with market microstructure dynamics. Leveraging the successful candidates deep understanding of FX market microstructure and pricing dynamics, you will support internal capital markets teams, FX product teams and engage with external WM ecosystem stakeholders to ensure the benchmarks remain fit for purpose in evolving and fast-moving market conditions. Furthermore, the role requires driving thought leadership and research content relevant to FX markets and the unique WM ecosystem.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct empirical research on FX benchmark design and pricing behaviour across over 150 currency pairs and Forwards/NDFs
  • Identify and validate methodological improvements to enhance tradability, representativeness, and manipulation resilience
  • Provide technical oversight to FX market surveillance teams and collaborate on the design of monitoring frameworks
  • Work in close collaboration with internal quant and capital markets teams, as well as external stakeholders, including bank algo trading teams to drive methodological enhancements and to thought leadership
  • Present research findings to internal decision-makers, regulators, and sophisticated institutional benchmark consumers
  • Explore AI-driven techniques to augment traditional quantitative analysis
  • Work directly with high-frequency FX data, build research tools, and support infrastructure development
Qualifications
  • PhD or advanced degree in econometrics, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Strong publication record, preferably in areas related to FX market microstructure, FX price formation, high frequency trading or pricing models
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with experience working with large datasets
  • Familiarity with FX instruments including spot, forwards, NDFs, swaps, and options
  • Comfortable working with raw and high-frequency data from platforms such as EBS, LSEG D&A
  • Experience building or enhancing research and surveillance infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences
