Overview
The Global Investment Research (GIR) team at FTSE Russell is a client-facing research group within the Equity and Multi-Asset business.
The team publishes insights on market dynamics across global regions and asset classes and uses FTSE Russell indices, other LSEG data sets, and external data sources.
The role is based in New York or London and focuses on private markets investment research, with potential to expand the universe to include private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate.
The role develops private markets research from index data and presents cross-asset insights that relate private markets to broad portfolio construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead the initiation of Private Markets research for GIR, covering private equity, private credit, and real assets (infrastructure, real estate), with potential to broaden the scope.
- Develop research content including regular periodical reports, topical insights, white papers, and deep thematic research; publish through multiple channels to deepen client engagement.
- Produce investable insights from private markets data and present cross-asset portfolio implications, including integration with public markets.
- Proactively incorporate new datasets and analytics to expand GIR’s private markets research capabilities.
- Engage clients through webinars, senior/strategic presentations, and industry conferences; interact with senior clients including C-level executives.
- Collaborate with GIR team members across regions and with internal stakeholders in Product, Index Methodology Research, Marketing, and Sales.
- Support index product strategies to drive ETF client adoption and revenues, and work with Wealth and Institutional channels.
Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree in investment management or related field; CAIA or CFA designation is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in private markets investment research and portfolio management, on buy-side or sell-side, in wealth or institutional settings.
- Strong understanding of global financial markets, multi-asset investing, and private markets; macroeconomic perspective is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of investment analytics, statistics, econometrics, and numerical methods.
- Proficiency in coding for empirical research (Python preferred); familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks, APIs, and data extraction is expected.
- Experience with Git, package management, and data visualization tools (e. g., Streamlit/Dash); SQL experience is beneficial.
- Experience with LSEG Workspace, Datastream, and other financial data platforms is advantageous; prior work with index data and related datasets is a plus.
- Proven track record of authoring client-facing research publications and presentations; strong client engagement and presentation gravitas required.
