We are looking for a director of strategic programmes to join our Engineering finance team . Across Engineering, we have launched a number of transformational initiatives. We are going to upgrade our global real-time infrastructure. This super-low latency infrastructure supports our clients, and enables us to deliver instant data to support traders around the world. We are migrating hundreds of applications into the Microsoft Azure Cloud.
And we have a couple of big challenges ahead. We need to better understand what applications will ultimately move to the cloud, and what we need to keep on our own servers in dedicated datacentres. We need to understand how to commercially optimise this equation – and not just for Engineering, but end-to-end for the firm. And we need to become more efficient. In our migrations. In our delivery. And in how we deliver support.
The director will lead a team of two experienced finance managers and work directly with a large number of people across the firm. The programme managers of these initiatives, the software development teams, the infrastructure delivery teams and of course other finance teams.
We are looking for someone who meets a number of the descriptions below – but you don’t need to meet all of these to apply for the job. We rate talent over “having done this exact thing” before and don’t mind investing the time to help get you up to speed.
- Finance partnering – You have partnered senior leaders in the business before on planning, forecasting and delivery to target on annual budgets of £200m+
- Complexity – You are able to break down complex problems to make them sound simple, even if they’re a bit fuzzy
- Detail oriented – You’re in the detail, you love a good Excel (or Python, PowerBI, or your tool of choice).
- Structured – You bring structure and help your business to stay on top
- Engineering & Cloud – You already have experience with cloud migrations, or are interested to learn a lot in a short period of time
